Münzo: Euro Cash Counter for iPhone
Last updated: 30 July 2026 · Effective: 30 July 2026

In plain words. You may use Münzo on your own Apple devices. Münzo Pro is bought once and is not a subscription. Münzo counts what you tap; it cannot check whether money is genuine, and the count remains your responsibility. Your statutory rights as a consumer are untouched by anything below.

1. Scope of these terms

These terms govern your use of the iOS application Münzo: Euro Cash Counter and of this website. The provider is Levin Schwab, Germany, reachable at levin.schwab@gmx.de (referred to below as we or us).

They apply in addition to Apple’s Licensed Application End User License Agreement, which Apple imposes on every App Store download. Where a provision of these terms conflicts with a mandatory provision of Apple’s agreement, Apple’s provision prevails. Nothing here restricts rights you have under mandatory consumer protection law.

2. What the app does, and what it does not

Münzo lets you count cash by tapping illustrated coins and notes, and lets you reconcile a counted amount against an expected amount. It runs on the device. It has no user account and stores its data locally.

Important limits. Münzo does not photograph, scan or recognise money; it has no camera access. It cannot determine whether a coin or banknote is genuine, and it offers no protection against counterfeit money. It is not accounting software, not a cash register, not a point-of-sale system and not financial, tax or legal advice. Every total it shows is derived exclusively from the taps you made, so verifying the count before you rely on it is your responsibility.

3. Licence

On acceptance of these terms we grant you a personal, non-exclusive, non-transferable, revocable licence to install and use Münzo on Apple devices that you own or control, as permitted by the App Store Terms of Service and Apple’s Usage Rules. Use for your own commercial purposes, such as counting the till in your own shop, is expressly included.

The licence does not transfer ownership. All rights not expressly granted remain with us.

4. Münzo Pro

  • One-time purchase. Münzo Pro costs €4.99, or the equivalent Apple charges in your storefront. It is a non-consumable in-app purchase. It is not a subscription: it does not renew, and no further amount is charged after the purchase.
  • What it unlocks. Till Close, several named tills, saved history, PDF and CSV receipts, sixteen currencies with European Central Bank daily reference rates, and the removal of advertising. The feature list may grow; features present at the time of your purchase will not be moved behind a further payment.
  • Where it applies. The purchase is tied to your Apple Account and can be restored on any device signed in to that account through Restore Purchases in the app.
  • Payment and refunds. Apple is the seller of record. Payment, invoicing and refunds are handled entirely by Apple under its own terms. Refund requests go to reportaproblem.apple.com. Where you have a statutory right of withdrawal, it is exercised through Apple.

5. Free version and advertising

The free version is financed by banner advertising delivered through Google AdMob. Using the free version means accepting that advertising is displayed. Before personalised advertising is shown in the European Economic Area, the United Kingdom and Switzerland, your consent is requested through a consent form, and iOS separately asks whether tracking is permitted. Declining either is free of consequence for the app’s functionality. Buying Münzo Pro removes the advertising. Details are in the privacy policy.

6. What you may not do

  • Reverse engineer, decompile or disassemble the app, except to the extent that applicable law expressly permits it despite this restriction (in Germany, Sections 69d and 69e UrhG).
  • Copy, rent, lease, lend, sell, sublicense or otherwise distribute the app or make it publicly available.
  • Remove or alter copyright notices or other indications of rights.
  • Circumvent the purchase mechanism or unlock paid features by other means.
  • Use the app for unlawful purposes, or in a way that interferes with third-party services it relies on.
  • Extract the coin and note illustrations for use in other products.

7. Third-party services

Münzo relies on services we do not operate: the App Store and StoreKit (Apple), Google AdMob for advertising in the free version, and the public endpoint api.frankfurter.dev for European Central Bank reference rates. We do not warrant their availability, continuity or correctness. Exchange rates in particular are reference rates published by the European Central Bank; they are not the rate a bank or bureau will trade at, and they are provided for information only.

8. Intellectual property

The app, its source code, its design, its texts and the coin and note illustrations are protected by copyright and remain our property or that of our licensors.

The graphics in the app and on this website are original stylised drawings. They are deliberately not reproductions of euro banknotes, and they follow the boundaries set by Decision ECB/2013/10 on the reproduction of euro banknotes. Names, marks and denominations of currencies are used descriptively. Münzo is not affiliated with, endorsed by or connected to the European Central Bank, the Eurosystem, Apple Inc. or Google.

9. No warranty

Münzo is provided as it is. Within the limits permitted by law, we give no guarantee that it is free of errors, that it is available without interruption, or that it is fit for a particular purpose you have in mind. In particular we do not guarantee that a total or a difference calculated by the app is correct, since it depends entirely on the input you gave it.

Your statutory rights on defects as a consumer, and our liability for defects fraudulently concealed or covered by a guarantee we expressly gave, remain unaffected.

10. Limitation of liability

We are liable without limitation for damage caused intentionally or by gross negligence, for injury to life, body or health, under the German Product Liability Act, and to the extent of any guarantee we have expressly given.

For slight negligence we are liable only where an obligation is breached whose fulfilment makes the proper performance of the contract possible in the first place and on whose observance you may regularly rely (a cardinal obligation). In that case liability is limited to the damage that is foreseeable and typical for this type of contract.

Any further liability is excluded. This applies in particular to loss of cash, cash differences, accounting errors, loss of profit or consequential damage arising from reliance on a count produced by the app. Verifying a count before acting on it is a step we cannot take for you.

11. Changes

We may change, extend or discontinue features of the app, in particular where a third-party service it depends on changes or ends. Features you have already paid for will not be removed without good reason.

These terms may be updated, for instance when the law or the feature set changes. The applicable version is the one published here at the time you use the app. Material changes will be indicated by the date at the top of this page and, where appropriate, in the App Store release notes.

12. Term and termination

The licence runs for as long as you use the app. You end it by deleting Münzo from your devices. We may end it if you seriously breach these terms, in particular the restrictions in section 6. Ending the licence does not by itself entitle you to a refund of a purchase already made; refund entitlements follow Apple’s terms and mandatory law.

13. Apple

These terms are concluded between you and us, not with Apple. Apple is not responsible for the app or its content. Apple has no obligation to provide support or maintenance for Münzo. In the event that the app fails to conform to any applicable warranty, you may notify Apple, and Apple may refund the purchase price; to the maximum extent permitted by law, Apple has no other warranty obligation with respect to the app. Apple is not responsible for addressing any claim by you or a third party relating to the app, including product liability, failure to conform to a legal requirement, or claims under consumer protection or privacy law. Apple and its subsidiaries are third-party beneficiaries of these terms and, upon your acceptance, have the right to enforce them against you.

14. Governing law and disputes

These terms are governed by the law of the Federal Republic of Germany, excluding the UN Convention on Contracts for the International Sale of Goods. If you are a consumer with your habitual residence in another state, you retain the protection of the mandatory provisions of the law of that state.

We are neither obliged nor willing to take part in dispute resolution proceedings before a consumer arbitration board within the meaning of the German Act on Alternative Dispute Resolution in Consumer Matters (VSBG).

15. Final provisions

If any provision of these terms is or becomes invalid, the validity of the remaining provisions is unaffected. The invalid provision is replaced by the statutory rule that comes closest to its commercial purpose.
